Shire Oak Church of England Primary School
The school is situated on Wood Lane in the centre of Headingley. St Michael’s has had a long association with the school, going back over 40 years. The students of the school visit St Michaels’s in different capacities. Special school services are held in the church; students visit as classes to learn about the church and to inform project work at school and students have joined the congregation at All Age services.
For many years St Michael’s PCC have organised foundation governors for the school. They have an important role at the school. When OFSTED visits, the foundation governors are interviewed by the diocese at the concurrent SIAS inspection. This is the main contributor to the school remaining a Voluntary Controlled Church of England school. Recently they were also involved with the interviewing and choosing of the new head teacher, Ms J. Devane.
