Summary of the Parochial Church Council Meeting held on 28 April 2016

Anita Shaw had tendered her resignation from the PCC and she was thanked for her work.

Apologies: Malcolm Heath; Ben Ellis; Jane Ferguson; Felicity King

PCC vacancies: Tom Herbert was co-opted to the PCC for a period of two years. There are still two vacancies remaining – each for a period of one year.

Appointment of Officers: The following appointments were agreed unanimously:

Deputy Church Wardens: The appointment of Felicity King as an additional member of the team and agreed unanimously.

Existing convenors should convene the first meeting, which would then be free to appoint a new convenor and to co-opt other members.

Appointment of Sidespersons:

The following appointments were agreed unanimously: Glynis Dickson; Jane Ferguson; Felicity King; Geoffrey Marshall; Barbara Newby; Peter Turnbull: Jean Forshaw; Zoe Shaughnessy; Sonia Bushell

Parish Magazine: Material was again requested for this, together with assistance for Tom Lusty in its preparation. It was suggested that it would be desirable for the format to remain consistent from month to month.

Assistance for PCC Treasurer. Janet Lewis would continue with the day to day recording of receipts and payment but it was agreed to arrange for Stephen Oliver (Chartered Accountant) to produce the regular reports for each PCC meeting.

Service Booklets. Work on this was on going and including how best to meet the needs of both regular worshipers and visitors. It was agreed to use the remaining monies in the Baddeley Fund to purchase a number of pew bibles.

Team Rector’s report: The main items here concern arrangements at future services:
May 1st – 10 am John Pearson from Hollybush will talk to support our Charity of the Season

6.30 pm Bryan Turnbill’s last service. Refreshments available

May 8th – Leeds Half Marathon which may make access to church difficult.

May 22nd 10 am Shireoak Sunday

June 5th – 10 am Environment Sunday

June 12th – 10 am Sam Corley, Patron, to preach

6.30pm Celebration of the Queen’s Birthday.

July 3rd – 10 am Children’s Society

Treasurer’s Report: There is £38,000 in the bank account with £11,000 Parish Share to be paid. The bank mandates were left unchanged.

Fabric Report: A reply from the Victorian Society regarding the proposals for the West End of Church is still awaited.

Parish Hall Report: A very successful working day had been held and may decorating jobs completed. Of particular note was the fact that many Hall and Youth Centre user groups had come to assist.

Green Group report: The planned Working Day had had to be postponed because of bad weather. Other matters under review include Electricity Supply and Fairtrade tea and coffee.

Shire Oak CE (VC) Primary School: The leaving service would be held in church on 20 July.
