Charity of the Season - Christian Aid.

Christian Aid Week this year is from 12th to 18th May, and there will be a special service at St. Michael’s at Evensong on 19th May.

The emphasis this year is on supporting the work of Christian Aid in  Sierra Leone, suffering after the effects of hurricane Ebola, leaving the country with huge debts to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to help it cope with the crisis.

 

Gentleman Jack is a new TV series staring on BBC, featuring amongst the stars is one Tom Lewis, grandson of Edna Lewis. Not to be missed!

Sunday 19th May at 9pm on BBC1.

 

Some Future events at St. Michael’s

Skyrack Pub: on 22nd May, the Skyrack are holding a MacMillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning. We shall join them after the 10.30 Service.

Ascension Day is on 30th May, and there will be a Sung Eucharist at 7.30pm.

 

RECYCLING STAMPS: Please bring your used stamps along to church and deposit in the box under the Green Group notice board. The stamps go to Christian Aid to plant trees in Africa and the RSPB Albatross Appeal.  Could you trim the stamps so as to leave a narrow margin.

 

The Leeds North & West Foodbank thanks St. Michael’s for their contributions to its work. Last year, St. Michael’s donated 240.39kg

Please put donations for the Foodbank and Pafras in the boxes at the back of church. No perishable items please.

 

Eco-tips:  About to go out? Switch off your heating 10 minutes before you’re due to leave the house. You won’t notice the difference.

Every now and again, people ask for a lift to church. If you are able to help, please let the vicar know.

 

Situations Vacant.

Our church relies on Volunteers and from time to time there are jobs that need to be done. Could you consider some of these?

Servers and acolytes:  to carry the Cross and Candles at our services.

St. Michael’s Lunch Club, which meets at Muir Court,  are looking for drivers. If anyone can help, please contact the Vicar.

Volunteers to be part of our Holy Dusters team.

 

Congratulations of Rory Sellgren, who has been awarded his PhD.! We look forward to welcoming him back to St. Michael’s for his graduation, when we can congratulate him in person!
